The Birmingham Police Department is investigating after a 3-year-old boy was shot Sunday morning. Around 8 a.m., West Precinct officers responded to the Forest Hills Village apartments in the 2600 block of Tempest Drive on a call of a person shot.

A 3-year-old was shot in Birmingham on Sunday morning, according to police. The incident happened at 2605 Tempest Drive, police announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly after 8:30 a.m. A male has been detained by officers,

When officers arrived, they entered an apartment unit and found a 3-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived and rushed the victim to Children’s of Alabama.
