Vancouver Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen has etched his name into the NHL record books. The netminder made history on Sunday afternoon as he backstopped his team to a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. The win was Lankinen’s 10th consecutive on the road to start the season, a new NHL record.

Kevin Lankinen is officially an NHL record holder. With his win Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks goaltender became the first goalie in NHL history to win their first ten road games to start a season. Before Lankinen went on this undefeated run, the record was held by Cam Talbot and Glenn Hall, who each recorded nine straight road wins.

It was a record-setting Sunday as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-4 in overtime. Jake DeBrusk scored a hat trick, including the overtime winner, while Pius Suter and Erik Brännström also found the back of the net in the victory.
