The Congress, which contested 101 seats in the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections, could win only 16, registering its worst ever performance in the state.

New Delhi: The Congress, which managed to win only 16 of the 103 seats it contested in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, has now submitted an 'urgent memorandum' to the Election Commission (EC) seeking an inquiry into 'serious and grave inconsistencies' in the data related to the polling and counting processes.

Congress leaders flagged two issues of arbitrary deletion of voters and subsequent addition of over 10,000 voters in each constituency from the final voter lists as well as inexplicable increase in voting percentages.
