NEW YORK -- New York is facing some cold weather this week, along with a little bit of snow, if you can believe it.

The rumors are true: there's a chance of seeing some flurries later this week. The bitter cold remains the main event for the week. For those in the NYC metro area, conditions stay mostly dry this week while our friends to the north and west continue to pile on the snow. That could change midweek, however.

Even if snowflakes do develop, they won’t be widespread or heavy, per the National Weather Service's forecast.

The amount expected varies by location. The weekend's lake effect snowstorm dumped 4 to 5 feet of snow in higher terrain in communities to the east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
