The New York Rangers got a critical 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. Going into this matchup, the Rangers were coming off of two consecutive losses and were in dire need of a victory. Mika Zibanejad opened up the scoring in the first period on the power play to put the Rangers up 1-0, marking his overall impressive night.

Lately, the Rangers have been finding ways to lose instead of finding ways to win. In a low-event game between two spiraling teams, however, Igor Shesterkin and the Blueshirts effectively defended a one-goal lead for a majority of the 60-minute affair before taking a 3-2 victory over the Sabres Wednesday night at KeyBank Center.

The Sabres are looking to snap a seven-game winless streak (0-4-3), which continued with a shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. The Rangers, meanwhile, have lost three of four games to open December and are 2-8-0 in their last 10.

Adam Fox had a goal and two assists and Mika Zibanejad crossed a milestone on Wednesday to lead the New York Rangers past the host Buffalo Sabres 3-2.
