Countries negotiating a global treaty to curb plastic pollution have failed to reach agreement, with more than 100 nations wanting to cap production while a handful of oil-producers were prepared only to target plastic waste.

Oil-rich nations like Saudi Arabia strongly oppose efforts to reduce plastic production and use procedural tactics to delay negotiations.

Delegates from more than 170 countries huddled for a week of marathon negotiations but came up short on delivering a treaty.

UN agency says most of its attempts to deliver aid to northern Gaza have been denied by Israeli forces even as looting of convoys has continued

The UN agency providing aid to Palestinians has said it is suspending deliveries through the main crossing between Israel and Gaza because of security concerns. The head of Unrwa, Philippe Lazzarini, said two recent convoys had been looted by armed gangs near the Kerem Shalom crossing and called on Israel to maintain law and order.

At least 200 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on northern Gaza Saturday, according to local health officials, as the United Nations said it would pause aid deliveries through the enclave’s main crossing after its trucks were stolen.
