As the cold air whistled throughout Lane Stadium in Blacksburg and students jumped to Enter Sandman, it marked a long awaited return.

The rivalry, if you can still call it that, between Virginia and Virginia Tech took another step in a lopsided direction as the Hokies trounced the Cavaliers 37-17 in the annual Commonwealth Clash on Saturday night at Lane Stadium.

Tech scored the game’s first 10 points and led by double-digit margins for the final two-plus quarters in handing UVA its sixth defeat of at least 14 points this season.
