Union Minister and RPI(A) leader Ramdas Athawale, a key BJP ally, on Tuesday said that a quick decision on the next chief minister of Maharashtra should be made while suggesting that incumbent Eknath Shinde should shift to the Centre.

Three days to the results, the Mahayuti is yet to declare its chief ministerial face for Maharashtra. While the BJP leaders are backing Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena is pushing for Eknath Shinde’s name.

Ramdas Athawale said the Maharashtra dispute should end soon as BJP's high command has decided that Devendra Fadnavis should be made the CM but Eknath Shinde is unhappy and his displeasure needs to be removed.

The Mahayuti swept the polls to the 288-member assembly, with BJP bagging 132 seats, Shiv Sena getting 57 and 41 going into the kitty of the NCP.

As per the normal schedule of events, a BJP national-level panel is expected to meet all the contenders to the Maharashtra CM's post after which Shah will take a final callabout who will be Maharashtra CM.
