A$AP Rocky is making moves with his film career: The rapper is starring in “ Highest 2 Lowest ,” Spike Lee ‘s upcoming reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s “ High and Low ” that also stars Denzel Washington.

"This is not a remake, this is a reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa's great film," said Spike Lee of his upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest, inspired by the Japanese director's 1963 crime thriller High and Low.

Kurosawa’s High and Low is loosely based on Ed McBain/Evan Hunter’s 1959 novel, King’s Ransom. The Japanese crime film follows a company executive who becomes a victim of extortion when his employee’s son is kidnapped for ransom. It starred Toshiro Mifune and Tatsuya Nakadai.
