Despite a seven-game losing streak, if the Buffalo Sabres beat the New York Rangers on Wednesday, they could possibly leapfrog four teams in the Eastern Conference and only be two points out of the playoffs.

The New York Rangers are coming off two of their worst games this season as they continue to lose games that they shouldn’t. They had a 3-1 lead over the Seattle Kraken in the middle of the second period and went on to lose,

Adam Fox had a goal and two assist and the the New York Rangers beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2. Mika Zibanejad got his 300th career goal and Reilly Smith also scored for the Rangers, who snapped a two-game skid and got their third win in 11 games.

Mika Zibanejad’s 300th NHL goal, a power-play effort in the first period, got the Rangers started, and Reilly Smith’s third goal in four games looked like it would be an insurance goal, until Owen Power, who’d had a rough game, scored to get Buffalo on the board at 15:09 of the third.

The struggling Zibanejad scored his 300th career goal in a 3-2 win over the Sabres, but it wasn't an ideal finish for New York.
